Bike Smart and Walk Smart
Evaluation of Research: Report Downloads
Both Walk Smart and Bike Smart instructional design underwent an extensive scientific evaluation process after development. 85 children completed a study for Walk Smart, while 209 children participated in the evaluation of Bike Smart.
Evaluations measured children's safety skills and knowledge prior to program use and after program use. Abilities to correctly respond to situations presented by the computer as well as in observable real-world situations were measured.
The studies demonstrated that after children used the program, most did a significantly better job of identifying hazardous situations than they had prior to using the program. The studies also demonstrated that even children with no computer or reading skills were able to use the programs.
The final report issued on each program is available for download as a .pdf file. Click on a program icon below to view or download that report.
