Hate the gym? Not the “jock type”? This program is for you. It was tested with more than 500 inactive people who, after just thirty days, improved their level of physical activity. And as a side benefit, they felt better and were less depressed!
In this Internet program, people of all shapes and sizes share the little things they have done to sneak physical activity into their daily lives. Given a range of stretching, strengthening. and fitness activities, viewers are encouraged to make a plan by choosing from unusual lists that include “things I can do while sitting down,” “activities that also get something accomplished,” “things I can do while standing in line,” and “things I can do with my kids.” Get tips about common barriers, print out articles about health, and learn ways to overcome embarrassment, fatigue, and fear of pain. The website even offers demonstrations and guided one-minute, five-minute and ten-minute stretching, “striding,” and strengthening sessions.
